PZU stands for effective nature protection policy and democratic development in the country.
1. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT – IDEOLOGY OF PZU
Party of Greens of Ukraine considers the power existing now in Ukraine to be inefficient and not satisfied with national interests of society. Under the permanent political crises and country being split into two parts – the East and the West, parties are just fighting for power over the country ignoring the urgent problems challenging the country today. So-called “political elite” shift electors’ attention away from the Ukrainian society’s priorities.
Main basic problems related to the development of Ukraine include:
1. Progressive environmental degradation and sharp deterioration in air, water and soil qualities;
2. Demographic crises in Ukraine that threatens to national human genofond;
3. Lack of national energy security strategy including ecologically sound energy technologies and use of renewable energies;
4. Increasing number of man-caused catastrophes due to worn-out resources of existing industrial infrastructures;
5. Old, inefficient health care system in Ukraine requires urgent reform measures;
6. Climate change is serious challenge faced by Ukraine and the international community.
Party of Greens of Ukraine offers urgent transition to sustainable development as the only solution to these and other pain problems of our society.
This party’s platform calls for harmonious co-existence of economical, ecological and social interests.
2. PARTY OF GREENS OF UKRAINE - HUMAN RIGHTSADVOCATE
Ukraine is facing with serious demographic crises. Policy not meeting interests of people has lead to extinction and degradation of the nation. PZU is too much concerned about the catastrophic demographic situation in the country caused by low birth rate and increasing death rate especially among men of productive age.
PZU is initiating the development of legislative acts and other practical measures to create efficient health care system composed of three main elements: free-for-service medicine, insurance and private medicines.
PZU is developing programmes to deal with epidemics and reduce consumption of narcotics, alcohol and tobacco goods. Preventive medicine and mass health examination especially among rural population should become priorities for Ukrainian health care system.
We are for implementing state programmes aimed at developing Ukrainian youth. We want to create a fair society free of the exploitation and humiliation of nature and man to contribute essentially to the development of the world community.
3. PZU – INSTITUTION OF CIVIL SOCIETY
PZU assists in creating a real civil society in Ukraine with non-governmental organizations (voluntary association of people whose activities aimed at reaching the exact goals including human, environment, cultural and moral values protection) to play an important role in it.
PZU stands for broadening the dialog between a state and its citizens, for more people to be involved in discussing the issues related to the development of the country. We support the development of direct democracy through conducting local, regional and national referendums to solve the urgent problems the society is facing with.
PZU advocates decentralization of power in Ukraine, administrative-territorial reforms, efficient local self-government and cutting down of unnecessary bureaucratic managerial bodies. The power structure of Ukrainian society is to be bottom-up and serve people.

4. PZU AND STATE
Our attitude towards state reflects our attitude towards democratic republic where all citizens are involved in establishing an efficient legal base to ensure the formation of an open democratic state. Policy should be transparent. Authorities should act exclusively within frameworks of the legal field and the Ukrainian Constitution.
PZU calls for Constitutional Assembly (CA) to develop the new draft Constitution as well as additional normative base necessary to realize provisions of the Constitution.
Constitutional Assembly’s mission is to find the compromise between the political parties and Ukrainian society. PZU initiates provision on sustainable development to be considered as a state strategy and a special paragraph on Ukrainian integration into Europe to be included in the text of the new Constitution.
5. FOREIGN POLICY
Foreign policy of Ukraine should reflect the status of the country as essential and fully-fledged member of European community. Reinforcement of mutually beneficial cooperation with European Union, Russia, USA and China as well as with all neighboring countries should be priorities of Ukraine’s foreign policy. Protection of nation’s environment is a priority for PZU.
According to our vision the formation of new international order is to be grounded on defense of human rights, social development, democracy, peace and freedoms. PZU opposes supremacy of any region of the world or any group of states. We stands for international community open for world’s democracies. Ukraine as integral part of Europe should enter the European Union.
Party of Greens of Ukraine supports millions of Ukrainians who live abroad. Through ensuring high levels of life in Ukraine we are increasing the human potential in the state.
PZU stands for full realization of citizens’ rights and freedoms. The judiciary should have a status of the third branch of state government enjoying full rights. Independence of courts and judicial investigation should not be a subject to executive or legislative authorities’ influence.
6. ONLY ECOLOGICALY SOUND IS ECONOMICALLY PROFITABLE
One of the PZU’s priorities is to preserve mineral base of living that currently is under threat of total destruction caused by robbery industrial use and over-consumption of natural resources. Sustainable development is the only way for our society to be developed.
We stand for European environmental standards to be legally introduced in Ukraine and special system to monitor adherence to them to be implemented in the country. Party of Greens of Ukraine is for implementing efficient system to control dangerous objects and ensure efficient legal defense of ecological rights of people. We stand for extension of nature reserve territories.
7. WHAT PART OF GREENS OF UKRAINE OFFERS TO THE SOCIETY
Whatever elections’ results could be, at all levels Greens will fight for implementing fundamental principles of human, social and environmental protections and oppose existing robbery practice and wild capitalism that break all nature and moral laws and unthinkingly destroy valuable resources; the resources that we are obliged to hand down to our children and grandchildren.
1. PZU develops state strategy of sustainable development of Ukraine;
2. PZU starts legislative initiatives aimed at adopting “green” laws to protect people and environment, promote ecological business, tourism, and manufacturing of ecologically clean food products, and cope with GMOs.
3. PZU offers specific measures to reform health care system to improve its efficiency and availability for people; participates in elaboration of programmes to reduce mortality rate of working-age people and improve demographic indexes.
4. While in Parliament PZU will create favorable conditions for large, medium and small size business to eliminate degradation of environment;
5. PZU makes their utmost to improve the ecological situation in the regions of Ukraine (programmes to improve air, water, soil qualities). Liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe remains one of the main PZU’s priorities;
6. PZU will implement mechanism for promoting renewable energy sources development and conducting programmes on renewable energies and energy conservation.
7. PZU will elaborate a programme to eliminate consequences of climate change in Ukraine.
8. PZY is committed to lobby legislative acts on financial compensation to the citizens in case of their diseases caused by electromagnetic radiation, chemical or other environmental contaminations.
